Collaborative Innovation Center for Eco-textiles of Shandong Province and the Ministry of Education (Qingdao University)

In 2017, the Education Department of Shandong Province of China approved Qingdao University to establish the «Shandong Provincial Collaborative Innovation Center for Eco-textiles”. Through hard work and struggle, the center achieved extraordinary achievements in serving the development of Chinese textile industry. Therefore, in 2020, the Ministry of Education of People’s Republic of China recognized Qingdao University to establish the “Collaborative Innovation Center for Eco-textiles of Shandong Province and the Ministry of Education” based on the Shandong Provincial Collaborative Innovation Center for Ecotextiles.

The center adheres to facing the forefront of world technology, the main battlefield of the economy, major national needs, and people’s lives and health. The mission of the center is to serve Shandong’s trillion level textile industry and build a strong textile country. The center collaborates with the industry leaders such as YuYue, Luthai, Jifa, Anoki and Sunvim to conduct innovation research in the three areas of green and low- carbon dyeing and finishing technology, green fibers and functional ecological textiles, and textile resource recycling. Efficient collaborative  nnovation has broken through a large number of key technologies and promoted the green and high-quality development of the textile industry.

The center has formed an innovation team of more than 100 national and provincial level experts, including academicians, national talents of millions, national special experts, Changjiang scholars, national outstanding and outstanding young people, etc.

The team has undertaken 319 national and provincial level major projects, including the National Key R&D Program and the Shandong Provincial Key R&D

Innovation Project, as well as enterprise commissioned projects. In recent years, the center has broken through 62 major common key technologies in textile  ndustry, transformed and applied 130 scientific and technological achievements, and created economic benefits of Ґ3.453 billion. The team of center has won 11 awards including the first prize for scientific and technological progress in Shandong Province, authorized 127 patents, and published 379 high-level academic papers.

At present, the center’s research space covers more than 3100 square meters, with 86 sets of large-scale instruments and equipment worth over Ґ30 million, including artificial climate laboratories, high-speed inkjet observation systems, and textile specific testing and analysis equipment. The center has established a  firstclass industry university research collaborative innovation platform, serving more than 100 textile enterprises inside and outside Shandong Province.
