Weihai Science and Technology Service Industry Association (WSTIA) was established, which is a public organisation with industry management functions. It is a public organisation and currently has 1,358 members, which can be divided into 8 categories:

Under the guidance of the Department of Science and Technology of Shandong Province, Shandong Provincial Science and Technology Service Industry Association, Weihai City Bureau of Science and Technology, carries out the following types of work:
- Promote the establishment of Weihai’s science and technology innovation system and promote the development of science and technology service industry in the city;
- Responsible for implementing the elements of science and technology innovation and promoting the development of high-tech industry of Weihai City;
- Organises overseas scientific and technological cooperation and exchanges, and conducts various kinds of major overseas scientific and technological exchanges on behalf of Shandong Province and Weihai City;
- responsible for the introduction and service of high-level foreign experts in Shandong Province;
- Responsible for popularising science, transforming achievements and building research platforms;
- Responsible for organising cooperation activities in science and technology industry and investment promotion work.
In recent years, the association under the leadership of the city party committee and the city government has been striving to integrate the city’s urban scientific and technological innovation resources, guide members to strengthen industry self-discipline and continuously standardise industry standards. Actively training industry practitioners, thereby improving the quality of scientific and technological services and close interaction between industrial technological innovation and public demand for scientific and technological services, innovative ideas, improve the service mechanism, accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements and provide better services for industry and the public.
