Founded in 1951, The university accommodates 4 research centers of national importance. It also has several student campuses (40 thousand students). It offers, among other things, 12 specialties that have passed the international certification of engineering education. The university also has 6 training centers for engineering practice of national importance and 15 experimental and demonstration centers of regional importance.
The University accommodates 8 academicians and over 1,500 full-time teaching and researching staff. Many of them have received government grants and are involved in various national projects in the field of technology and engineering, and three are recognized as outstanding teachers in the country. The university is an active participant in many major international and all-Chinese forums in the field of mechanical engineering and modern engineering solutions. Professor Zheng Wei is the director of post-doctoral studies at Liaoning University of Technology and also heads many other programs at both universities and research centers in China. He is an outstanding Chinese scientist, the author of many discoveries in the field of aviation, astronautics and other fields of applied science. He has published many scientific works including 10 books and more than 210 scientific articles. He developed 35 doctors of science, 65 candidates of science, organized more than 95 scientific forums and conferences. Professor Zheng Wei also serves on more than 20 editorial boards of journals such as China Journal of Inertial Technology, China Space Science and Technology, and Geodesy and Geodynamics Series, among others.
